Early Works by Martin Parr

Martin Parr is a British photographer famous for his color work who passed away on December 6, 2025. On the way to Taipei for Christmas, I watched a documentary of him on the plane, I Am Martin Parr, where I learned that he started off shooting black and white. The pictures and themes of his early black and white work shocked me: they hold that same whimsy, that same curiosity present in his color photos, but the absence of color makes his curious observations about life at the forefront. I think I like them more than his color photos.

The book is hard to find. The link below is the only one I could find that wasn’t sold out at the time of this writing.
